Age of vines: 20 years
Harvested in the second week of April in 2005 at higher than usual sugar ripeness and great flavour intensity.
The wine was made in the usual Gembrook Hill way, with the winemaking risks kept high to maximize vineyard and seasonal flavours.
All ferments started off with wild yeasts and the wine was not fined or filtered.
The wine is highly aromatic and deliciously fragrant in the true Gembrook Hill style.
The palate is medium bodied with flavours of red fruit, undergrowth, spice and a touch of sappiness. The 30% new French oak is well integrated and succeeds in making a wine of great complexity.
The wine has fine grained silky tannins and a gentle acidity.
