This vintage was characterised by a warm spring and hot summer leading to the earliest vintage yet at Gembrook. Ideal weather in spring ensured crop levels were consistent with our expectations. We have found that the recent trend of warmer years in conjunction with judicious canopy management practices has led to lower disease pressure in the vineyard. Picking started on the 22nd of March and continued into an autumn which was particularly mild, allowing perfect weather for the grapes to obtain optimum ripeness and ideal harvest conditions.
