Vintage 2014 in the Yarra Valley produced high quality grapes, but in low quantity, because of the cold and wet conditions throughout the flowering season in November and December. Fruit set was affected and we had the lowest crop since 2002, when there were similar conditions.

However, at cool climate Gembrook we love small crops, as we achieve very intense flavours and concentrated, finely balanced and perfumed wines. The first three months of 2014 were warm to hot, yet the nights were cool, so the small crop had ideal ripening conditions and we are delighted with the intense varietal quality of all of our wines.
